Description
Students will read a primary source document that was written by an anonymous samurai in the 14th century. It is a fascinating poem that allows our students to understand the outlook, attitude and frame of mind of the samurai. Students will analyze the poem by answering questions and by writing their interpretation of chosen lines. Then, they'll create an "Illustrated Guide" by choosing four lines from the primary source to illustrate and to write the meaning in their own words.
Included in the Resource:
✓ Primary source document - "Creed of a Samurai"
✓ A glossary of challenging words
✓ A handout that includes interpretation questions
✓ An answer key
✓ A direction sheet that explains the "Illustrated Guide" that they'll complete.
✓ A template for students to complete the "Illustrated Guide" to the "Creed of a Samurai"
