Description

Teach basic safety rules, learning about responsibility and assessing the risk in a variety of situations at home, school and in the community in this print and use unit that requires no planning and only minutes of prep.

This unit is part of our Year Long Bundle which includes all our health and wellness units for grades four through six at a discount.

This hands-on unit includes:

  • safety considerations and rules for recreational activities, transportation, poison and chemical symbols, staying home alone (babysitting), basic First Aid, injury prevention, contacting emergency services, emergency preparedness, online safety and assessing risk.
  • lessons about identifying personal boundaries (physical and emotional) and giving and receiving consent. The consent lessons are age-appropriate.
  • complete lesson plans with modifications for differentiation.
  • a Google Slides version for reading and writing activities. Some of the hands-on activities have been modified for digital use.
  • student pages and templates.
  • answer keys and suggested answers.
  • photos of student examples.
  • student-appropriate scenarios for role-playing and discussions.
  • variety of activities including group work, writing, colouring, and collaborating.
  • background information for teachers.
  • a variety of assessment opportunities like quizzes, short tasks and unit review activities.
  • spellings for Canadian/British and American spellings.
