What educators are saying

This resource is fantastic! I have purchased most of the STAAR review stations and they are perfect for the last couple class days before a unit test. All the kiddos were engaged and questions were STAAR - aligned. It does take some prep time, so make sure you plan on that.

Description

These stations are ready to go. Just print, copy, laminate and go. Very little prep needed!!

I love using stations in my classroom. My students love them too. I find these stations to be an excellent review for my students. It also gives me the opportunities to go around to each group and check on specific skills. I have also found that there are times that I just pull up to a table and use the time to do a reteach. Giving students the ability to manage themselves is such a freeing experience for the teacher.

I will explain how I run stations in my classroom. These stations do not have to be run in this way, but I have found that many teachers are not used to doing this type of activity in their classroom, so having a “how do you do this” page has helped many people.

• 8 Fiction task cards – they have short passages that are followed by a STAAR “like” question. The questions have been mirrored off the questions from the released tests. These cards are a small portion of my product “STAAR task cards – fiction edition”.

• 31 Literary terms task cards – these cards give the students a definition and they are required to provide the word that matches the definition.

• 12 character task cards – In these cards, students are given a short scenario and ask the students to supply the correct adjective to describe the character on the card.

• 14 point of view cards – These cards ask the students to determine which type of point of view is being used in the paragraphs. The texts used on these cards all come from actual literature. These cards are a small portion of my product “Point of View Task Cards.”

• 8 figurative language cards – These cards provide a phrase or sentence. Some are well known phrases, others come from actual literature. Students will then determine the correct figurative language, and then they will be asked to explain what they thought the author was trying to communicate with the phrase or sentence. These cards are a small portion of my product “Figurative Language Task Cards.”

• 8 inference cards – These cards have 8 different pictures, followed by several guiding questions. The questions are all specific to the picture and should be used as a guide to help the students make a correct inference about the picture.

• Station sheet – This is a word document to be copied and used by the students. It is not dressed up (i.e. it is very boring) because I wanted to leave this page editable so that you can change it up to suit your needs.

• Station sheet Answer Key – This looks just like the station sheet, except it has all the answers. Again, it’s not very pretty.

• Student Station Directions – included with each individual station, you will find a page that gives the students directions for what to do at each station.

• Fiction Word Wall – I have included my fiction word wall with this product because… well, it just might be nice to have, especially before the test.

• How To Pages – the in’s and out’s of how to use these stations in your classroom.

Each station has been designed to be completed within 10 – 15 minutes. Your classes may be much faster or slower depending on your students. Please use your own judgement about the timing. Each of the task cards are also a different color and background design. This will help in case there are any lost cards throughout the day. Overall, the stations should take between 60 and 90 minutes. They are easily continued the following day.

If you have purchased any of the above individual products, you will be duplicating those purchases here.
