Description

SOLFEGE Poster With KODÁLY/CURWEN Hand Signs *3rd Grade through 12th Grade*

These solfege posters (which can also be used as a handout) display the corresponding Curwen/Kodály hand signs and can be used as a useful graphic organizer that helps students learn the Kodály/Curwen hand signs and syllables also known as Solfege or Solfa. Using these hand signs as a teaching tool for beginners is incredibly useful in almost any music teaching situation. The posters include photographs of Zoltan Kodály and John Curwen, aiding students in identifying the original developers of the hand signs.

If you're teaching solfege and/or Kodály methods, you might also be interested in my SOLFEGE KODÁLY/CURWEN HAND SIGNS FOLDABLE MINI BOOK! This resource is a great and fun activity for students and a useful assessment tool for teachers. CLICK HERE to download!

As a band director, I'm a huge fan of using Solfege with my beginners because it makes teaching instruments in multiple keys a breeze! For example, instead of saying "C instruments play B-flat, B-flat instruments play C, E-flat instruments play G," I can easily give the band instructions using Solfege: “Band, play 'Do’." It makes it easy to improvise warm-ups, even in two parts by using both hands, and is a fantastic way of getting students to watch you! I hope you enjoy this resource.

This product is aligned with the National Core Arts Standards! Specific standards met are listed within the resource.
