Description

This is the companion to my Which U.S. state should Grinch visit? Persuasive/Opinion/Argument Essay Writing.

This SMART Board file includes everything you need to instruct your students to complete a persuasive/opinion/argument essay that incorporates research on one of the 50 United States. I originally created this to go with a set of books I have titled, From Sea to Shining Sea, which there are books for each of the 50 states; however, this could be used with any book on one of the states. It could also be used to conduct research of a state on the internet.

Student directions (from companion packet): Mr. Grinch has spent many holiday seasons with the Whos in Whoville, and although he loves spending time with them there, he is wondering if he should take a vacation elsewhere. Use your “Fifty States” book to find things that the Grinch might like to see or do in your assigned state. Then, write a persuasive/opinion essay to answer the question: Where should Mr. Grinch go for the holiday season instead of staying in Whoville? Use specific details from the text and your research to convince him to visit your assigned state
