Description

This post Civil War novel grabs the attention of students from the beginning. Here are questions and activities for every chapter:

- reading comprehension,

- fact retrieval,

- cause and effect,

and more.

There is a quiz for each of the following:

Ch. 1 to 6;

Ch. 7 to 10;

Ch. 11 to 13;

Ch. 14 to 17

ANSWER KEYS INCLUDED.

There are vocabulary and spelling worksheets, and a mini-lesson and extensive worksheets for using past tense verbs, as past tense is discussed within the student responses - CCSS RL6.

Within the chapter responses there are charts for evaluating situations, a Venn diagram assignment, group and independent speaking opportunities, map making, and more.

I include an essential question on student hand-out stationery.

The poet Henry Timrod was considered the "poet laureate of the Confederacy." Here is a short lesson on his work that I sell.
