Description

How are you on a scale of...(fill in the option!) is a great activity to check in with students and connect to how they are, while having fun! It's a social emotional Mood-meter that lowers the affective filter. Morning meetings, PLCs, exit tickets... any time!

Students can demonstrate rigor by choosing an image and making thoughtful connections to their state of being that day (or week, or moment!). Students can justify their choices with the Visible Thinking Routine: What makes you say that? We've had great fun with the scales this year.. with both students and adults! (great start to a meeting or grounding in PLC)

To make the slides even more interactive, you can add the animal scales to a draggable or drawing slide on Peardeck or Nearpod or Seesaw. Each slide also easily uploads as a Jamboard background/ template (or whiteboard.fi / whiteboard.chat). With Jamboard or the other whiteboard platforms, I especially like to have students (or adults) add a sticky note to explain/ justify their choice.

Included:

  • 11 animal options: Bats, Dogs, Elephants, Farm Animals, Giraffes, Hippos, Kangaroos, Otters, Rabbits, Turtles (and one dressed up silly dogs!)
  • 11 editable Slides templates
  • Includes a ready made Jamboard to copy & use!
  • (plus 3 more just added as a bonus thank you: Silly Cats, Meerkats, & Manta Rays!)

Remember to review + get your TPT credits! I value and use your feedback when creating more resources! This SEL set came from a TPT teacher who shared her students' requests in a review

+ this set was inspired by requests from a teacher in Alaska!

Thank you, enjoy!
