Russian for Children Lesson 1

To the teacher

This Russian series of lessons is for students whose primary language is not Russian; however, they may have an exposure to the Russian language or culture. This program is four-skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) that empowers students to achieve their academic and real-life skills. Easy-to-teach and engaging material makes for a more productive classroom.

Components

Lessons are self-contained. One lesson usually takes 90 minutes when working with small groups (1-3 students). Each new lesson starts with a review to recycle and reinforce listening, vocabulary, and grammar skills.

Assessments are provided in the form of short quizzes upon completion of 3 lessons.

Collaborative activities allow students to work and practice language skills in pairs or small groups.

Worksheets focus on basic literacy skills (such as numbers, letters, days of the week, months) that reinforce the concepts in the lessons. Some of these worksheets are collected from the Internet with references provided.

Teacher’s guide gives valuable ideas on how to preview a topic, introduce it, organize lessons, elicit answers, etc.
