USE FOR ANY SUBJECT!
Rubric is out of 200 points and helps you, as the teacher, grade poster projects super quickly, easily, and accurately. It is tough to grade presentations and projects without a rubric. This one will work with any subject or subject matter!

Explanation of project:

Sometimes you come across sections of the textbook, or other nonfiction text, that hold important information but you don’t want to just sit and read from the book with your class. I have found that this poster project works really great for situations like this!

Get your students into groups. I have found that 3 or 4 to a group works really well. Whatever group work rules you use in your classroom will work just fine in this project.

Assign all groups with the same textbook section -
This will require each student to read that important information, so you know they’re all learning what they need to learn. Also, you can compare the different group posters as a class: who pulled what information? Did everyone pull out the important facts? Did anyone find something important that other groups missed? Why? This all leads to great discussions.

or

Split up the reading and assign each group a different section -
This allows your class to “divide and conquer” the reading. Once groups present, then the class (if they listen well) has now heard everything they are supposed to hear. I use this method later in the year when I can be sure my class understands how these presentations need to run and how important it is to listen as an audience member. IF you feel that the group presenting did not cover the information well, then you will need to read through that section with your class to be sure they are gaining the knowledge they need from that reading.
