★ ★ ★ How the Resource Works ★ ★ ★

Feel free to incorporate this resource in whatever way fits your needs and the needs of your students!

The re-useable mats:

• Laminate enough copies for students and use dry-erase pens.

• Use the mats in your existing math centers.

• Use the mats as a consistent math warm-up activity that students keep at their desks with dry erase pens. Simply keep a version for yourself, and each day change the numbers. Place the mat on your doc cam for students to see, copy, and solve each day.

The worksheets:

• Have the students work in pairs. They fill in the blanks to create numbers, and decide what place the number gets rounded to by coloring the game space a certain color. They then exchange games with their partner and fill in the blank game spaces with the rounded number. They exchange the worksheets one final time, and correct their partner’s work on the game. The challenge is to see who got all the game spaces by rounding the numbers correctly. Encourage students to discuss any errors between them. This fosters some great “math talk” among students!
