This is a webquest activity that has students analyze four different accounts of Rosa Parks' arrest and the Montgomery bus boycotts, and find similarities and differences among the accounts.
The accounts of this event are in a variety of formats, from multiple sources (a video interview of Rosa Parks, a written interview with Rosa Parks, a newspaper article (Obituary), an online article). Students will determine whether each document is a firsthand or secondhand account, the author's purpose, and analyze for important details/information.
In addition to supporting the common core informational text standards involving multiple accounts of the same event/topic, this product also supports common core informational writing standards. Included with this product is a text-based writing prompt and planning sheet, requiring students to inform about the significance of Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
