Romeo and Juliet: Modern Balcony Scene Assignment

This assignment requires students to re-write the famous 'Balcony Scene' from Romeo and Juliet into modern English. Assignment includes instructions, the full text of Act II, scene ii (I have eliminated some lines in order to shorten it), and a space for the students to write their new, modern scene. A student example and an assessment rubric are also included. I always give the option to students to act out their modern balcony scene for the class - this is usually quite entertaining.
