Robots 101: A first look at robots and basic electronics
- PDF
Description
Kids love robots! And hands on creativity can teach us so much... kids will learn how batteries work, how to wire electrical projects, problem solving, and more! This first look at robots includes learning basic electronics and building five small "robot" projects. Brief writing and math worksheets included, as well.
The projects in this unit are intended to provide an introductory experience to robots and electronics. These projects do not qualify as “official” robots, but kids will love them and the creating process will give insights into how robots work.
Projects included:
Potato Battery
Circuit Critters
Drawing Robot
Propeller Car
Wiggle Brush Robot
The projects have been written to work with purchased kits or recycled materials. Part of working with robots involves experimentation and trouble shooting, so feel free to adjust and adapt to fit your own materials! Get creative! There is nothing wasted in any attempt!
Two books are recommended to assist in learning about robots and supplies will need to be purchased for each project.
**Suggested timeline included for 1 week of activity work (1-2 hrs per day)
**Can be spread out or adapted for various class times or homeschool projects
