Watergate is one of the most famous events in American History, but it can be hard to teach. We have laid it all out for you in this extremely engaging activity. We probe your students knowledge of all of the key aspects to the scandal. Digital and Paper Copies Included!
This "Nixon and Watergate" Distance Learning Activity includes:
1) Students will start this engaging activity with an analysis of the players involved in the Watergate scandal including, H.R. Haldeman, John Dean, Archibald Cox and more. Next, students will work through a timeline of many of the key events that played out during the scandal. This will give your students a great reference of the time frame of the scandal. Finally students will analyze a political cartoon of Richard Nixon as well as two excerpts from the Nixon tapes including the "Smoking Gun" recording.
This activity can be used in many different ways in the classroom. Students can work independently, in pairs or this activity can be used as a jigsaw in order to facilitate a class wide discussion about the topics discussed in the activity.
