What educators are saying

This was a resource that came in handy when I needed a little something "extra" to help my students grasp the devices! Thank you!

Description

Provide your students with a more complete understanding of rhetorical devices, rhetorical appeals and logical fallacies with this mini-unit that includes concept overviews, practice activities, complimentary assignments and an assessment. ** This product is included in my Rhetoric: The Art of Presuasion Unit and my AP Language and Composition Bundle for a reduced price. Please don’t buy this item in addition to either product listed above as it is already included.**

This resource is organized into two sections:

Rhetorical Devices with an overview of devices and a rhetorical devices analysis activity for Lincoln’s “Second Inaugural Address”.

Appeals and Logical Fallacies with an overview of appeals and fallacies, practice activities, Nixon’s “Checkers” reading and an analysis activity for Nixon’s speech.

Also includes a ten question multiple choice rhetorical devices and rhetorical appeals test based on a Susan B. Anthony speech, teacher notes, and a few variations of the included graphic organizers that may be used with teacher-selected texts.

This unit would be well-suited for an AP Language and Composition Course, an Informational Texts unit, an Argumentation/Debate Unit or a Composition Unit.
