READ RESTART BY GARY KORMAN!

This is a great book to not only teach point of view, but also includes many opportunities to discuss bullying and integrate social-emotional learning. This novel jumps back and forth between different character's points of view which requires students to see things from different angles and perspectives.

  • Each chapter has anywhere from 1-6 questions. Questions range from making predictions, questioning, inferencing, connecting, comparing and contrasting, and explaining. There are also different levels of questions, from recall to application and analysis.

  • There are vocabulary pages for multiple chapters that require students to identify the word's part of speech and definition. There is then an application activity that involves a vocabulary strategy.

  • I designed this to be a quick check to ensure comprehension.

  • Two chapters are strictly multiple-choice questions. I did this for students to practice filling in a bubble sheet. The other chapters include a mixture of multiple-choice, short answer, etc.

  • There is some science and social studies integrated into this novel study (the human brain and President Harry Truman).

  • I recommend printing 2 chapters per page to save resources! Creating a mini book is another great option.
