Description

Are your students struggling to understand the steps involved in a research project? Do you want a way to scaffold and differentiate your lesson to give all students the opportunity to show what they know in a fun and engaging way?

This Research Journal will increase your students' engagement and knowledge of the concepts of effective research. Scaffolded graphic organizer are a great way for students to have a quick visual of the steps involved in research, and the Venn Diagram and mind map templates should look familiar to them so they can concentrate on the content instead of the process.

This activity also asks students to practice each step and really think about what they are doing, helping them to show their knowledge in different ways, and helping teachers to assess their understanding. You'll love this differentiation strategy! You can use this resource to model research skills as a whole class with a social studies or science topic, then give students a fresh copy to use on their own research topic! This could also be used for projects such as 20% time or Genius Hour research.

THE RESEARCH JOURNAL INCLUDES:

★Low prep worksheets! Just print, staple and hand to students - all instructions included!

★Go through as a class with modeling or let higher-level students go through the process on their own.

★Writing and mind map sections for students to expand on knowledge and understanding of concepts in different ways

★Sets students up to write a research paper or create a blog entry, presentation, or visual representation of their research!

This research journal can be used for:

★Small group work

★Enrichment & Genius Hour projects

★Organizing thoughts

★Gaining a deeper understanding of complex and abstract subjects involved in research
