Report Writing as Gaeilge - Ainmhithe - Irish Primary Language Curriculum

Report Writing as Gaeilge. The new Primary Language Curriculum requires teachers to teach the same skills in both English and Irish, including asking children to write in different genres. This resource pack is designed to give teachers the materials needed to effectively teach report writing or ‘scríbhneoireacht tuarascalácha’ as Gaeilge. Write about ten animals from the Amazon Rainforest. The information is presented in a jigsaw format to encourage active learning and interest. This is an Irish language resource. This resource includes:

• 10 informational pages on animals in a jigsaw style. These can be used as a whole page or cut so that the children can make the jigsaws and then use the information to compile a report.
• Colour coded resources. Children match words to sentences to create a report about a rainforest animal.
• 5 writing templates for report writing as Gaeilge – ‘Scríbhneoireacht Tuarascálacha’.
• Over 30 posters to teach key vocabulary.
• Language of report writing used in posters and templates. (Rangú, Aiste Bia, Gnáthóg, Eolais Suimiúla)
• Differentiated reports included.
• Noticeboard Heading for display.
• Detailed suggestions for teachers in English on the teaching progression using the resources.

This resource is aimed at children in 2nd - 4th class. Please view the preview to decide if it is suitable for your class and their level of Irish. As this is a new type of writing for many children, pre-teaching of vocabulary and whole class teaching is recommended at first. Detailed suggestions for use are included in the pack.
