Description

Did you know regular past tense –ed is pronounced 3 different ways? It all depends on the ending sound of the verb!

  • /t/ – Verbs ending in voiceless sounds (except /t/) – e.g., brushed, kicked
  • /d/ – Verbs ending in voiced sounds including vowel sounds – e.g., waved, cried
  • /Id/ – Verbs ending in /t/ or /d/ – e.g., visited, added

These variations can make mastering past tense difficult, particularly for English language learners and students with language delays or disorders.

This resource sorts regular past tense verbs into 3 sections based on the pronunciation of the final –ed to aid student comprehension.

This packet contains:

  • 30 high-quality photos with example sentences
  • 2 image size options included
  • 75 verbs sorted by final -ed pronunciation
