Why “this” activity?
I recently noticed in my 7th & 8th graders summary writing, they struggle to recognize and eliminate redundant phrases. Rather than drill and kill with redundancy examples, I was hoping to find something they might enjoy while linking to a cultural reference. Since I teach in SW Missouri, country music is an easy link to make for my kids.
The song “Parked Out By The Lake” played on my favorite morning show, and I knew this would be how my kids could discuss redundancy and allusion within the context of country music.
