Description
Introduce the concept of red and green behavior choices this with simple and interactive class book. Red and green choices refers to appropriate and inappropriate behaviors/ good and bad choices that people make. This interactive book can be used as a whole class lesson or during 1:1 instruction; it is suitable for special education or early childhood settings.
Each page has a short scenario in which a child makes a green or red choice. Teachers should read the page and then select a student to decide if the choice was green or red and stick the green or red visual on the page. This can then promote further conversation about what the student could have done instead of making their red choice (e.g. throwing, kicking, pinching, yelling, not being on task, being distracted, not working as a team, using rude words, saying no).
This is a great way to give students new strategies for dealing with some of the common problems they may incounter at school. Introducing red and green choices to your classroom will allow you to refer to students behaviours as either red or green during the day and also give students a tool for reflecting on their behaviours. Some pages also feature emotion words. There are 21 scenarios (7 green, 14 red). One page of green visuals and two pages of red visuals are included.
A small black and white mini book has also been included. It contains 13 pages in which students circle if the behavior is a red or green choice and color the pictures. These can be stapled together.
