What educators are saying

Thank you for sharing this resource!! It was a fun project to do while we were reviewing utopian vs dystopian readings.
I used this at the beginning of my dystopian novel. My students loved the alternative to the traditional research paper!

Description

This short research project about utopias helps students practice research skills like summarizing, paraphrasing, embedding quotes, and citing sources. Each side of the Research Cube targets a different skill and presents a different facet of the topic. Students will love this alternative to a research paper!

Use this resource with any dystopian novel study or as a stand-alone project. This is a great alternative research project for The Giver or The Hunger Games.

What other teachers are saying...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ingrid says, "Such a great visual! This is a project that my students actually wanted to keep. Will be using it again for sure!"

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lori says, "Great creative product for an alternative final in a research unit. Thanks!"

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trev says, "Used this for Fahrenheit 451 and my students loved it :) I will be definitely using this next year!"

Your Research Project includes:

  • Editable instructions with different research skills
  • Editable rubric
  • Editable Research Sheet
  • Photo example
  • List of 7 "student-friendly" real-life utopias

Your students will love this low-stakes research activity! They start their cube on an ordinary box of tissues, and you can use these in your classroom after the project has been completed and graded.

I originally used this as a The Giver research project and had students create a utopia. You can use it to feature a real-life utopia or have students make their own.
