What educators are saying

AMAZING AMAZING RESOURCE! This was perfect for our finance unit in 5th grade. I like how it is editable and it also is versatile! I barely just used one small part of it so far and have plans for more!

    Description

Drivers License, jobs, paychecks, bank accounts, debit cards, checks, and violation tickets all come together to help you run your classroom. All items are editable with the exception of the vintage classroom jobs, for your convenience in behavior management.

Enter your students names and classroom information onto the checks and debit cards for students to use in class. Each student can get assigned to weekly classroom jobs and earn a paycheck each week for completing their job. Students will keep track of their bank balances by managing their deposits and withdrawals.

Students will each have their own drivers license with their student id number, photo, and imagination. I like to have my kids pretend that they are taking their drivers test at the DMV and we need to stay in our lanes in straight lines. If you can't manage walking in line then you do not get a driver's license. (My 3rd graders love their drivers license).

When students have trouble following the rules, they will receive a violation ticket. Each ticket has fines for different actions and prices. Students will sign their tickets and write a check to the teacher and withdrawal money from their account.

My kids use their money at the end of the year in our third grade economics fair. Whatever they have in their balance they can use at the fair. I also allow them to spend their money on school store items.

Enjoy allowing your students to use their imaginations and feel like they are responsible and mature individuals.

Model with mathematics. Mathematically proficient students can apply the mathematics they know to solve problems arising in everyday life, society, and the workplace. In early grades, this might be as simple as writing an addition equation to describe a situation. In middle grades, a student might apply proportional reasoning to plan a school event or analyze a problem in the community. By high school, a student might use geometry to solve a design problem or use a function to describe how one quantity of interest depends on another. Mathematically proficient students who can apply what they know are comfortable making assumptions and approximations to simplify a complicated situation, realizing that these may need revision later. They are able to identify important quantities in a practical situation and map their relationships using such tools as diagrams, two-way tables, graphs, flowcharts and formulas. They can analyze those relationships mathematically to draw conclusions. They routinely interpret their mathematical results in the context of the situation and reflect on whether the results make sense, possibly improving the model if it has not served its purpose.
