    Description

This is a fantastic way to review the importance of reading and following a recipe and the proper methods for measuring ingredients by volume. Each station has 1 or 2 ingredients for that each student will measure. This lab was designed so that ALL students participate and practice each measurement method. At the end, each student will produce their own personal edible cookie dough.

The way it works: the teacher will set up the stations with necessary tools and ingredients. Each student will need a small mixing bowl and a spoon to stir with. Give small groups of students about 3-4 minutes at each station to measure their ingredients. Then rotate until students have all ingredients. At the end, they mix up their small personal batch of cookie dough and enjoy!

Suggested instructions on how this lab works are included on the last page! Please read through them as it is important in regards to the final product. I would start with the lesson on "reading a recipe".

Please note, this cookie dough is egg free, but flour should NOT be consumed raw for risk of foodborne illness. Please purchase heat treated flour for this lab or eat treat your own flour! Heat treating flour yourself takes some time, but is much more cost effective. I personally use the oven method of heat treating flour.
