Description

This activity is filled with nonfiction passages that focus on Valentine's Day celebrations throughout the world, and about locations where such celebrations are considered to be criminal. From Valentine's Day in the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, Korea, Italy, and Denmark to illicit Valentine's Day activities in the Middle East, students will agree that the diversity of this celebration around the world makes this nonfiction topic one of high interest for upper elementary and middle school students.

Students will also focus on text dependent questions with inference, text structure, compare and contrast, figurative language, and more. I like to use this activity set as a literary station in my classroom, but you can use it in the manner that works best in your classroom. Not only is it NO PREP, but it is flexible in its execution.
