Reading Stamina Timers and Tools

Sustained silent reading is a key component to developing reading skills. These tools will help your class increase reading stamina and enhance reading lessons. You set a reading goal and select a timer. Every theme includes timers for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 minutes.

*UPDATE - I have added a Neon themed timer for older students with timers for 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, and 60 minutes.*

Timers will run automatically for the selected time. When time is up, a soft chime sounds and a notice pops up telling the class they have done a good job. When time is up, my class gathers to discuss how our reading went. If you click a speech bubble that says "Let's talk about behavior", there are a questions to discuss like "were we reading the whole time? What could we do better next time?" etc. If you click "Let's talk about our reading" there are questions like "Did you make text-to-text connections? What reading strategies did you use?" and more. If you click on any of these questions, you are taken to a slide that reminds students about reading strategies, text connections, and author's purpose. There are also tools to use before you start reading. This will help remind your class about your expectations and set a purpose for reading.
