What educators are saying

This has been a life-saver in my intervention time with students and has allowed us to focus on individual student work and student need.
Loves the easiness of them. Everything thing is in one place. I don't have to find resources to add to the lessons.

Description

This product is a comprehensive guided reading kit for students reading between levels J-P, roughly the second/third grade level or ANY reader reading at this level. means 4th-8th graders reading at the 2nd/3rd grade level OR K-1 students reading above grade level.) This kit includes 30 one-sheet "stories." This pack is environmentally friendly because the entire story is on one piece of paper. No collating or stapling. Each "story" revolves around a detailed image so students must attended to the words to decode. In addition to the text, there are 7 pre-reading activities and post-reading activities for students to complete in the areas of reading, writing, spelling and vocabulary. This product provides directions and details for a 5-day format per story, and/or a 20-30 minute lesson plan. You pick, you choose what works best for you and your students. Do as many or as little of the activities per story as you wish. These activities require very little prep work on your part. It is definitely teacher-friendly in the prep time department...instead of no prep, let's say, easy prep. I even wrote the lower and higher level questions you should ask your students after reading, so you don't have to think of them. See, easy right?

These activities teach the following skills and strategies: observation and inferring skills, retelling, recalling, vocabulary, decoding, blending, comprehension, fluency, speaking, discussing, phonics, spelling, morphology, syllable types, writing, guided reading, guided writing and print concepts. This product also aligns with The Science of Reading.

These stories are perfect for the teacher OR a paraprofessional, an interventionist, SLP teacher, special education teacher, a classroom volunteer, a parent, a homeschooling parent, or a substitute teacher.

These stories and reading activities are intended to be used for guided reading or any form of small group guided reading instruction *with* an adult, but are also perfect to include in your sub plans, to use as homework or as an assessment. While some of the reading activities could be done as independent work, that isn't really the intention, but you are certainly free to use these sheets *however* you wish in your classroom.
