What educators are saying

My absolute favorite of these plays. This is the most challenging of the Hello Literacy plays but clearly the most fun! Usually student has read many of the others and is ready for longer text whether they know it or not. I use as partner plays. Eventually most kids want to be all the crayons!
My student's always love doing readers theatre and I love how great they perform and enjoy practicing!

Description

I'm a huge fan of Reader's Theatre as a collaborative and fun disguised way to practice fluency, oral language, speaking skills and working together in a group. Perfect for a literacy center group activity.

I wrote this script as a paired text with The Day the Crayons Came Home. There are 11 roles and the script is 6 pages in length. This script is different than those in the past because of the number of characters. There are 11 characters instead of the typical 2-6. The lines are also longer for each character than normal because each crayon's line is a letter they have written to Duncan. The narrator has several lines and a select few crayons have a couple of lines, but for the most part, each crayon has one, lengthy line. The font is large enough for students to read. There are two versions of the same script included. A printer-friendly version that you can copy in black, on white or colored card stock. OR a color coded version with each role a different color as shown in thumbnails above. OR use it with your digital device and then there's no need to print it at all.

These Reader's Theatre scripts are intended to increase reading fluency and reading confidence. While performing the Reader's Theatre after much practice with the group is a desired outcome, these scripts do not include stage directions as these scripts are more about fluency and less about acting.

Ⓐ I will not be posting a growing bundle. I will be posting the scripts as they are created. All scripts will be posted at 50% off when released for the first 48 hours.
