Description

This is a readers theatre, based off of the actual trial of Samuel Wardwell in the Salem Witch Trials, that can be printed for a class set. Each student can be involved as there are 11 different characters and as many members of the jury as desired. The jury will decide, based upon the evidence presented, if Samuel Wardwell is a witch.

This can be used as a literacy activity, miniature play, and as part of colonial studies. It is 14 pages in length and takes around 45 minutes to both read and allow the jury members to decide. This lesson can easily be extended into writing by to allowing each class member to write a persuasive statement, using facts from the script, on their own decision of guilt or innocence.
