What educators are saying

I used these for summer school. They were a great way for students to practice their fluency along with the phonics skills they'd been learning.
We had so much fun with these in our class! I loved the differentiation and everyone had a part they could read. Great resource!

    Description

Readers Theater is an all in one activity to encourage reading accuracy, reading fluency, speaking and listening, and comprehension all during the same lesson!

I have always loved the idea of Readers Theater, but the scripts I could find were always too difficult for my students to read and practice independently, which I felt defeated the purpose. This script is intended to be accessible for all readers, while focusing on first grade phonetic sounds.

This activity is also intended to fit into an hour or less ELA block! Readers Theater is such an engaging way to reinforce multiple skills- but it doesn't have to be an overwhelming production!

This is the GROWING BUNDLE- which means if you purchase now you get all of the scripts already created PLUS as I continue working to create more, you can re-download this bundle at no additional cost to make sure you get the complete set. Your kids will thank you- because this activity is a hit every single time.

    What's Included in Each Script:

    • Reader Friendly Script (color or B&W)
    • Character Cards (for partnering students, and reminding them of their character)
    • Theater "Backdrops" (Powerpoint presentation with theater slides that the students can perform in front of!)
    • Comprehension Questions to extend learning (printer friendly)

    How to Use:

    • Pass out a character card to each student
    • Give each pair (or each student) a copy of the script
    • Read once whole class
    • Read with partners and practice for "performances!"
    • Ask a few pairs to "perform" for the class! (they LOVE it!)
    • Answer the comprehension questions to extend learning

    Scripts Currently Included!

    • Short Vowels
    • Digraphs
    • Magic/Silent E
    • Vowel Teams
    • R-Controlled Vowels
    • Diphthongs
