Vocabulary Matching
Students match vocabulary words with the correct definition. Using a colored pencil, students shade corresponding definitions with each word provided. There are four half sheets (seven words per page) of ratio and proportion words broken into the following categories: complex fractions (7 words), proportional relationships (7 words) and percent applications (14 words).

Ratio and Proportion Vocabulary Task Cards
This activity has students looking at twenty vocabulary cards. A vocabulary definition is provided and students pick the correct vocabulary word. The following words and their definitions are on the cards: proportion, ratio, rate, complex fraction, constant of proportionality, unit rate, product, variable, ratio table, equivalent ratios, simple interest, reciprocal, percent, rate of change, independent variable, numerator, principal, percent decrease, dependent variable and percent increase. An answer document is included. Another worksheet is included which may be copied on the back side of the vocabulary answer document. The worksheet asks students to create their own word problem using ratio and proportion vocabulary.

Ratios and Proportions Writing Activity
This activity has students compare two car rental companies. Students are asked to compare the two companies to determine which company has the best deal. Eight vocabulary words are listed as a word bank and students are encouraged to use them in their explanation.

Draw Me! Ratios and Proportions Writing Activity
This task has students choose and draw six vocabulary words (modeled after Pictionary) from a list of sixteen ratio and proportion vocabulary words. Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units. For example, if a person walks 1/2 mile in each 1/4 hour, compute the unit rate as the complex fraction ½/¼ miles per hour, equivalently 2 miles per hour.
Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.
Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error.
