Description

This pack of activities is an excellent way to add rigor and interest to your viewing of Race the Sun. You may use one or all of the enclosed NO PREP activities to focus your viewing of this film.

Student Experience: Your students will get the most they can out of this movie as they work through the activities in this teaching pack. Race the Sun is a 1996 film starring Halle Berry and James Belushi. The plot is based on the true story of the Konawaena High School Solar Car Team, which finished 18th in the 1990 World Solar Challenge and first place among high school entries.

From the viewing guide with thoughtful questions to a quick reflection activity, students will be engaged while viewing the film. I love using movie guides as students watch films because they require students to apply a wide range of strategies to comprehend, interpret, evaluate, and appreciate texts beyond the written word.

Included:

-Active viewing graphic organizer

-Creative Reflection Piece

-Classroom poster

-All answers
