RUBRIC FORM TEMPLATE (Excel) "Form for Writing Your Own Rubrics/Assessments" can be a real life saver when you (as a secondary teacher) are writing rubrics for an assignment of any length, including a major project. There are two different versions now available in this zip file: the EXCEL editable version (with formulas in place to automatically calculate the grades for you), and the PDF FILL-ABLE version (which does not have that capability) -- both of which have been created to save you loads of TIME, WORK, and FRUSTRATION!

Do you often find yourself in need of a rubric template to track the results of a student's progress on a particular assignment? Teachers always seem to dread writing rubrics because they aren't sure where to begin, so perhaps one of these templates will give you a good running start. The hardest part for you will be the writing of the definitions, each of which will explain what it is you expect your student to accomplish (according to each ELEMENT being evaluated - you may enter up to 7 ELEMENTS) to meet your expectations and the standards. These definitions will be explained under each of the "Column Headings" which in this case are classified under the captions of ADVANCED PROFICIENT, PROFICIENT, PARTIALLY PROFICIENT, NEEDS MAJOR IMPROVEMENT, UNSATISFACTORY. In other words, if you are evaluating "Content," what would ADVANCED PROFICIENT work look like, etc. When you purchase this product, you will find teacher's instructions to give you guidance in using the templates.

Having some spreadsheet experience could be very important when using the EXCEL version. As stated above, this rubric has been created with "protected" cells that will automatically calculate the points for you, which will then result in a "percentage" average (rounded off to the nearest percent). Again, the PDF copy does not have this capability. IMPORTANT: When you purchase this file, SAVE it and immediately rename it to keep your original copy unblemished. Each time you create a new document for your classes, rename those files. This will protect the "original" and keep it free of any data. Once renamed, experiment/play with that copy so you become familiar with how it is working. Do this before you begin the process of creating "the real thing."

PRINTING OF THESE FORMS: When it comes to printing these documents, it is important that you know how to use your printer. Since each printer is unique and different, it impossible for Education Get Real to give you exact printing instructions. You will need to select the printer type and (in most situations) make adjustments to the settings: size of paper, margins, position (landscape or portrait), and you may want to do some custom scaling (if you want it to fit on one page, etc.). You may also want to work with the page setup options. For best results, use a high resolution printer. You will be much happier with your printouts once you spend some time learning about your printer specifications first.
