REAL WORLD LIFE SKILLS ATTITUDE LESSON WITH WORKSHEET

The purpose of this lesson is to educate students on the importance of having a good attitude and how it affects performance on a daily basis.

The worksheet is simple and easy to fit in any curriculum, especially if you have various students with a negative attitude and it seems as though the class may not be responding to their peers in the most respectful way. This will enable the students to understand how an good attitude provides positive outcomes and will assist in advancing them further on life. This lesson is a WIN, WIN for all!

Overview

Students will focus on the importance of attitude and how it affects their performance in everyday life.

Materials

• Computer

• Worksheet

Student Objectives

• Students will research the definition of attitude.

• Students will compile research on attitude and complete a worksheet.

• Students will present various information from the worksheet to the class.

Accommodations

Students may receive help conducting online research and writing on the worksheet.

Guided Learning

Begin by introducing a role play and choose 1 student to have a general conversation that shows a negative attitude towards the conversation and then have another conversation with a positive attitude. Allow time in class for students to conduct internet research and find answers on the worksheet.

Independent Practice

Students will research and complete the worksheet by writing in cursive, printing or typing. I personally have my students write in cursive since they will still need to utilize it the future for: signing checks, signing a driver’s license, signing for a house, and signing for all other legal documents. Distance learning of course would only be typing.

Synthesis

Students will present their research to the class and reflect on their findings about attitude. Class discussion should focus on how a positive attitude is crucial for their future career.

Formative Assessment

What are some examples of people that you encountered with a bad attitude? What happened? What are some examples of people that you encountered with a positive attitude? What happened?
