What educators are saying

In our classroom, students compose their essays with confidence, thanks to the presence of the RACE Strategy poster. By utilizing this tool, students have the opportunity to craft well-structured essays that incorporate key elements essential for achieving academic excellence.
This is a visually engaging and simple checklist for my students to use with all different kinds of writing. Thank you!

This poster is a useful tool for students learning the RACES acronym for writing constructed responses and short answers.

"RACES" is simply a version of the "RACE" response that includes a "sum it up" section at the end. I love this version for writing a truly complete response!

Why use RACES?

Understanding (and memorizing!) this acronym prepares students for writing responses on standardized tests.

Students learn not only to write complete responses but to read CLOSELY...because they know they will have to "prove" their answer.

Beyond tests (and isn't that what it's all about!?), this helps students truly back up their answers with evidence from the text!

We are teaching students to think critically and support their opinions!

Includes a printer-friendly black and white version, too! This version is great for printing on bright, colored paper and giving copies for students to keep in their notebooks!
