What educators are saying

I used this with my Sophomores. They have been struggling a bit and this made practicing much easier for them.
A perfect activity to review writing using RACE strategy at the beginning of the school year to bring back previous learning. Also great to use for students who need additional assistance.

    Description

This RACES Writing Strategy bundle combines two great resources to help students answer text-based constructed response questions. Together they put exactly what students need for success at their fingertips.

Resource 1: Sentence Starters Reference Tools

Coming in 3 different sizes, these reference tools can be used as posters, to make anchor charts, to add to interactive notebooks, as deskplates, or as portable flipbooks students can keep at their fingertips wherever they go. The 3 sizes give teachers so many options for teaching the parts of a great constructed response answer using text evidence! Note: The last two pages of the resource have 4 different Sentence Starters pages. One represents all parts of the RACES Strategy on one convenient page. The other sheet also has 4 different mini reference sheets for convenience; however, those are C, E, S, and Transition Sets.

Each reference tool comes in three sizes: whole page, half page, and quarter page.

Reference Tools Included in this Resource:

-RACES Acronym and each part's meaning

Resource 2: Practice Templates: Graphic Organizers, Sentence Templates, Paragraph Templates

This resource provides practice templates for getting students comfortable with the process of writing one-paragraph answers. Once that happens, writing multi-paragraph answers will be much easier for students to grasp.

    Templates Included in this Resource:

Separate RACE, RACER, and RACES resources for each of the following:

    1) Reference Page with acronyms and steps

-Use these as classroom posters or anchor charts, desk plates, interactive notebook inserts, binder inserts, or laminated for small groups or literacy centers.

    2) Graphic Organizers with sentence stems for guidance

    3) Guided Practice Templates help students get the hang of writing their answers in sentence format; includes sentence stems for guidance

    4) Paragraph Practice Templates help students get used to writing their answers paragraph format; includes sentence stems for guidance

    *All come in 2 sizes:

★All are black and white to save on ink.★

I hope these tools become a valuable and easy to use resource for you and your students!
