Description
This vertex form discovery activity uses Google Sheets as an interactive graph. The students are able to change the values of each part of the equation in vertex form to see the results. This entire Google Sheet is editable and pre-coded to change the y-values based on the a, x, h, and k inputs.
Additionally, there are open-ended reflection questions that the students will answer along with the interactive graph. All of these questions are editable and clearly marked where the students should be responding. This activity is perfect for introducing transformations, group/center work, or sub plans.

Identify the effect on the graph of replacing π§(πΉ) by π§(πΉ) + π¬, π¬ π§(πΉ), π§(π¬πΉ), and π§(πΉ + π¬) for specific values of π¬ (both positive and negative); find the value of π¬ given the graphs. Experiment with cases and illustrate an explanation of the effects on the graph using technology.
