Description
This QR Code Habitat Investigation is a great whole group inquiry activity, small group investigation, or independent activity (centers, extension, "I'm done") for students grades K-2. There are different versions for those of you without subscriptions to tools like BrainPOP or PebbleGo. Reminder, if you do not have a subscription, the BrainPOP and PebbleGo QR codes will not work (but the YouTube ones will work great!). All YouTube links are shared via SafeShare to keep kids on the singular video.
Version 1: BrainPOP Jr. and PebbleGo
Version 2: YouTube
Version 3: YouTube and PebbleGo (two versions of this are provided for younger students who need QR codes more spread out)
Topics are: Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, Neil Armstrong and Alexander Graham Bell.
I have also included 3 different recording sheets. One has students recording (writing or drawing) 3 facts and then drawing a picture of their topic. The second recording sheet allows an area to record 4 facts. The other two are lined recording writing papers--one blank and one with prompts ("My topic is..." and "I learned...").
QR Codes can be scanned on any tablet or cell phone as well as laptops/computers with webcams! For tablets and phones, download a free QR Reader from your app store. For computers, just download Google Chrome and add a QR Reader extension.
