World lit glimpse at Russian lit in a shorter (much) form than Tolstoy or some of the longer pieces. Would probably work for a Halloween or Mystery one act for drama clubs. Nice because no royalties to pay.

Description

Royalty free 24 page reader’s theater script of A. Pushkin’s Queen of Spades divided into 14 scenes with 15 speaking parts (some can be doubled). An easy way to explore Russian literature, characterization and improve verbal prosody.

A miserable, penniless ward of a countess looks for a way to find happiness. A gambling, get rich quick schemer becomes obsessed with a rumor about a winning three card combination and will stop at nothing to find out the secret three card combination. Can the ghost of one of his victim's provide answers or ruin?

Additionally you will find a 13 page .PDF with writing prompts and exit tickets, directions for teaching with the jigsaw method and a rubric. Stage directions are also included so script can be used for a performance. (Halloween, parent's night, theater arts, drama club, etc.)

Readers’ theater is a great way to explore literature, expand vocabulary, improve fluency and comprehension.
