This resource is designed to help students keep their writing focused by learning to analyze the prompt before they even begin reading the text or writing their essay.
"Do What" is a strategy in which students create a "T - Chart" with "Do" on one side and "What" on the other. They analyze the prompt. On the "Do" side they write the word or words that are command words. What are the words that tell me what supposed to do? On the "What" side, they record the word or words that show what the command words are telling to actually do.
