What educators are saying

My students found that using case studies to learn about psychological disorders was much more engaging than lecture or research projects. They still had to research, but when they felt like they were solving a real problem, they were much more into it.
This was a great way to review the disorders in a diagnostic set-up. It was helpful to look at the possible indicators and discuss how and why doctors go about diagnosing disorders.

Description

This worksheet provides 18 mini case studies on mental health disorders. Students will read the scenario and determine whether a mental health disorder exists, and if so, which one it is. Some scenarios depict situations that are not necessarily mental health disorders. Students are also expected to highlight important signs/symptoms and to provide a rationale for their answer.

Topics include: depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, generalized anxiety, phobias, panic disorder and others

Ideal for a psychology, health or related course and can be used as classwork. Students can work independently, in pairs, or in small groups.

Disorder bank and answer key provided.
