Description
What is your id telling you? How about your superego? How does your ego manage these conflicting forces? Make these abstract concepts real and vivid for your students with a 3-Part Psyche Activity based on Sigmund Freud's famous theory of the id, ego & superego. This package has everything you need for an engaging and fascinating 2 or 3-day lesson on one of the foundational principles of the psychoanalytic approach. It is both teacher-led and student-centered, and it really grabs the kids’ attention. The package includes a Teacher's Guide to help you lead a great introspective discussion prior to the activity; an effective and professional-looking fill-in-the-blank chart to keep students on task; a key for the chart; a worksheet of free-response questions to accompany the initial discussion; plus a set of PowerPoint slides on Freud's theory of the 3-part psyche for reference or lecture. If the lesson is done in its entirety it lasts 3 full class periods. Shorter versions of the activity can easily be done in 2 class periods or even less.
