What educators are saying

Card sorts are my favorite. This resource works perfectly for identifying proportional and non-proportional relationships.
My students loved this! We took notes on the right side of the journal, and glued this activity to left side of the journal. Simple instructions, easy to grade, and we made a summary at the end of the page- it was pretty perfect! Thank you!

Description

This product includes a Proportional vs Non-Proportional sorting activity, homework, and homework key.

Card Sort Activity - Students will cut out 4 graphs, 6 tables, 5 equations, and 4 key words/phrases which will then be glued down onto the Proportional vs Non-Proportional page. Students will have to identify Proportional and Non-Proportional situations from graphs, tables, and equations to complete this activity.

Homework โ€“ This is a 12 question homework that requires students to identify Proportional and Non-Proportional situations from graphs, tables, and equations. The homework is fill-in-the-blank and an answer key is included.

This product is not Texas specific but if you are a Texas Teacher this product specifically covers the following TEKS:

8.5F Distinguish between proportional and non-proportional situations using tables, graphs, and equations in the form y=kx or y=mx+b.

Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways. For example, compare a distance-time graph to a distance-time equation to determine which of two moving objects has greater speed.
Interpret the equation ๐˜บ = ๐˜ฎ๐˜น + ๐˜ฃ as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear. For example, the function ๐˜ˆ = ๐‘ ยฒ giving the area of a square as a function of its side length is not linear because its graph contains the points (1,1), (2,4) and (3,9), which are not on a straight line.
