Properties of Logs (condensing and expanding) Puzzle
Description
This is a great activity for Algebra 2 or Precalculus students to practice using properties of logs; condensing and expanding using product, quotient, and power rules. This is a good activity for partners, but also can be used as review for individuals. If you want it to be easier for students, tell them the shape (it will be a triangle) and to start with the plain circle at the top. Otherwise, don’t tell them what shape or orientation and it will be slightly more difficult. I recommend they be able to use scratch paper or whiteboards to do scratch work on.
The easiest way to put the puzzle together is this: cut the papers in half (the next page has 2 copies of the puzzle), and then students can cut their own pieces out because they’re not in order. If you give them plastic baggies, you can use the puzzle for multiple classes, or if you want to laminate them they will last indefinitely!
