What educators are saying

Great way for the students to discover the properties of Logs. It gave them a deeper understanding of the concept.

Description

Guide students to the discovery of the appropriate properties to expand and condense logarithmic expressions with this Properties of Logarithmic Expressions Discovery Guide + Condensing and Expanding Logs Extension! This lesson includes a Warm Up that asks your students to evaluate logarithmic expressions with the base of 2, and then prompts them to experiment with the outcomes of adding, subtracting, and multiplying these logarithmic expressions by a constant. This experimentation leads students to the discovery of the Product Rule, Quotient Rule, and Power Rule of Logarithms!
This Discovery Guide also includes an optional Summary/Extension that allows students to formalize their discoveries and apply them to expanding & condensing logarithmic expressions with 8 additional examples! A Presentation for Google Slides™️ is included in this item as an instructional tool during the summary/extension portion of this lesson!

This Purchase includes:

  • WARM UP ACTIVITY: This Warm Up asks students to evaluate logarithmic expressions with a base of 2. These values are used within the discovery of the properties of logarithms!

  • DISCOVERY GUIDE: This Discovery Guide prompts students to experiment with the outcomes of adding, subtracting, and multiplying logarithmic expressions by a constant. It also includes an option Summary/Extension page with guided notes and 8 unique examples of expanding & condensing logarithms!

  • COPY OF SUMMARY/EXTENSION PRESENTATION FOR GOOGLE SLIDES™️: This presentation will allow you to summarize & extend at the close of this lesson as a full class with ease! It includes 3 slides that will allow you to present the summary organization table, condensing logarithms definition & examples, and expanding logarithms definition & examples.

  • TEACHER KEY & TIPS GUIDE: A Teacher Key & Tips Guide is included to help you as you teach this lesson. There will be no prep on your part, other than to print!
