Description

Using Project Based Learning in your classroom or Therapy sessions is the perfect way to have kids incorporate reading, writing, math, problem solving skills and Executive functioning skills in a fun, real-life context. In this set of activities, kids will plan an epic space mission! As they prepare for their adventure, they will create, choose what to spend money on, purchase food, plan a spacewalk schedule, design their spaceship, and plan their launch date! and so much more.

Designed by an Occupational Therapist to target the most vital Executive Functioning Skills associated with day to day living including Working Memory, Planning, Time Management, Organising and Cognitive Flexibility.

With over 20 Activities that can be graded up or down these could be used from 1 on 1 session, small groups or in the classroom. They would also work great as an early finishers task!

Activities Included:

  • Allocation of Funding: Students get a budget of $500,00 and get to choose what crazy technology advancements they want to purchase for their space mission.
  • Design Your Space Mission Badge: No space mission can go ahead without a cool badge.
  • Finding a Day for The Space Mission: Students are given the parameters of which days don't work on the calendar, their job is to figure out the one day this spaceship can be launched on.
  • Supplies Budget: Students are given a cost per person per day for each main item, they need to figure out how much it will cost for the 4 day mission.
  • Spaceship Design: Students are given instructions for colouring a spaceship. They will have mostly free scope to choose their own design but it will require some problem solving along the way.
  • Spacewalk Planner: A classic take on the daily planner activity, but with a twist! - their spacewalk could get cut short so they have to order the activities from most to least important.
  • Packing List: Don't forget your toothbrush!
  • Personal Items Packing: The astronauts are allowed some personal items but will your students be able to make them fit in this spatial awareness challenge.
  • Design a Luna Module: The Luna module needs some upgrades and it's up to your students to decide what they are in this flexible thinking and task initiation activity.
  • Name Badge Mix Up: Oh no they name badges got mixed up, will your students be able to figure out whose name badge belongs to who in this logic puzzle.
