Teachers that are doing book buddies or math buddies, this PBL is for you!  This Big and Little Buddy, “All About Me” project is for Kindergarten-Fifth grade classrooms, and comes with individual teacher guides and materials for K-1 (little buddies) and 2-5 (big buddies). This project focuses on Writing, Math, and Social Studies learning standards and skills.  

Whether you are just starting out with book buddies, or would like your buddies to get to know each other better, they are sure to LOVE this “All About Me” PBL Unit.  From the very beginning, students take ownership over this authentic project when they ask their buddies questions about their favorite things. Teachers guide students through the process of answering their buddies questions, and helping them to create an authentic product to present to their buddies, concluding with an “All About Me” buddy celebration.  As a result of this unit, buddies will be able to choose good-fit books and activities for each other.

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Write informative/explanatory texts in which they name a topic, supply some facts about the topic, and provide some sense of closure.
