Description

For in-person class, distance learning & home schooling!


In this mini-unit project, students research a country of their choice and create a presentation to teach their classmates. This interdisciplinary activity can be used to supplement your social studies, reading, or writing curriculum.

Skills exercised:

- reading comprehension

- research skills

- organizational skills

- reflective skills

- presentation & speaking skills

- & many more!

Includes a DIGITAL VERSION in which students type directly into Google Slides.

And of course: Learning From Others! Students will look at each other's finished presentations and take notes on the slides provided.

Students can use classroom resources to research and gather information, including books, ebooks, student-safe search engines, news websites made for kids, etc.

Scaffolds and variations - many included to enable teachers to differentiate

the project and tailor it to teaching goals:

‘Planning’ variations:

- circle given topics or independently generate topics

- with & without comparison activity (inc. scaffolds)

‘Research’ variations:

- 1 or 2 topics per page (students take amount needed)

- “notes” or “facts”

‘Present’ variations:

- different directions for Google Slides and a general presentation - with or without specifications for presenting

‘Notetaking’ variations:

- different prompts

- 1 or 2 per page
