What educators are saying
Description
This lesson allows students to examine the role of leadership during the Progressive Era. Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Woodrow Wilson all made efforts to address various economic, political and social problems in society.
This lesson includes readings on Roosevelt, Taft and Wilson. It also includes a Venn Diagram Organizer where students can take notes on each president, then determine which leader was most effective at addressing social issues. Students can work independently, in pairs, or broken up into three groups where they can Jigsaw the information.
Lastly, an additional resource "Who Am I" was included as well. Students will be reading statements about each leader and determine which president applies. This can be used as a post-lesson activity, as well as a homework assignment, or formative assessment. An answer key is provided for this resource.
