Description

Included in this zip folder are 17 PDF files. 6 files are Introductory lessons, 6 files are assignments and 5 files are references for students. A brief description of each:

Intro #1 is a 36 page file that introduces the fundamental counting principle. Sample space is defined as the total outcomes found via the counting principle. 12 formative assessment problems are included in the file.

Intro #2 is a 41 page file that introduces the concept of "and" and "or" as intersection and union. There are 8 formative assessment questions in this file.

Intro #3 is a 13 page that introduces the probability of a single event using "and" and "or". It is defined as desired outcomes divided by the sample space. 6 formative assessment problems are included in the file.

Intro #4 is a 21 page file over the probability of independent and dependent events. There are 6 formative assessment problems.

Intro #5 is a 20 page file over the complements of an event. 8 formative assessment questions are included.

Intro #6 is a 42 page file over the conditional probability formula. Problems are discussed intuitively as well as using the formula. Then, the formula is used when intuition breaks down.

Student Reference #1 is a 1 page printable of a standard deck of cards.

Student Reference #2 is a 1 page printable of the sample space of 2 standard dice.

Student reference #3 is a 1 page printable of the sample space of 2 flipped coins and 3 flipped coins. 4 example probability problems are included.

Student Reference #4 is a 1 page printable of the sample space of 2 dice on a grid in the 1st quadrant.

Student Reference #5 is a 1 page printable. In this reference the following are defined with examples:
1. probability
2. Complement of an event
3. P(A and B) in a single event
4. P(A or B) in a single event
5. Dependent Events
6. Independent Events
7. Conditional probability

Assignment #1 is a 24 question multiple choice assignment. The emphasis is the fundamental counting principle. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #2 is a 24 question multiple choice assignment. The emphasis is the probability of a single event and its complement. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #3 is a 24 question multiple choice assignment. The emphasis is the probability of a single event and conditional probability. The student is asked to use the formula as well as intuition in conditional probability. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #4 is a 24 question multiple choice assignment. The emphasis is the probability of 2 events. Both dependent and independent events are used. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #5 is a 24 question multiple choice assignment. The emphasis is the probability of 2 events. Both dependent and independent events are used. The sum of 2 dice is emphasized in this assignment. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #6 is a 28 question short answer and multiple choice assignment. The emphasis is the probability from a 2 way frequency table. Conditional as well as non conditional probabilities are included. It is on 1 page for easy printing.
